Alamo Bowl tickets are the perfect stocking stuffer for your favorite college football fan. Since 1993, Christmas time in San Antonio has included the Alamo Bowl.
The new showdown is now between schools from the elite programs in the Big 12 and Pac-10’s # two team after the BCS picks. This year’s game is sure to be a barn burner as this year’s game features two teams that average over 30 points a game while racking up over 400 yards of offense per game. The 2010 Alamo Bowl will feature the Texas Tech Red Raiders against the Michigan State Spartans. Here is a quick recap on the two teams.
Texas Tech: The Red Raiders finished their season at 8-4 and tied for 3rd in the Big XII. “Texas Tech is thrilled and excited to return to San Antonio to be part of a wonderful and tradition rich game such as the Valero Alamo Bowl," said Texas Tech Athletic Director Gerald Myers. “This is a credit to Coach Leach, his staff and our talented student-athletes for what has been yet another outstanding season. We are glad for the opportunity to play in San Antonio because it gives our great fans all across the state of Texas the ability to be part of the game."
Michigan State: Michigan State finished their season at 6-6 and is attending the Alamo Bowl for the second time, their first being the 2003 battle against Nebraska. “Our student-athletes, coaches, alumni and fans are looking forward to making the trip to the Valero Alamo Bowl,” said MSU Athletics Director Mark Hollis. “Our team and fans had a great experience in San Antonio six years ago – the hospitality there is second to none. We’re also looking forward to reconnecting with many of our alums that live in Texas and the Southwest.”
In the 2008 version of the Alamo Bowl teams from the University of Missouri Tigers (9-3) and the Northwestern University Wildcats (9-4) put on a sizzling game that was watched by over 7 million fans on ESPN. Soon after The teams were selected, the Northwestern's head Coach, Pat Fitzgerald, was named as a finalist for the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year.
This Year’s Bowl Game should prove to be even more exciting than ever. And what a great place to spend Christmas, but in San Antonio, the home of the Alamo.
